Nicolle's Bragging

So first of all, I made (what I think) was a stinking cute sugar glider bag. Admittedly this one turned out so well because the one I tried to make right before this was so bad that I learned a lot from my mistakes...

Next, I slipped on deck and fell across the kiddy pool at work on Thursday. The swelling is almost gone I think, and it is getting ever so pretty! If it gets even better I'll add more pictures. Unfortunately it's always so hard to get good pictures of bruises... flashes white them out and cameras just never quite capture their true beauty. But here's what I have.
Definitely my first deep thigh bruise. Got to limp around work Friday as it got tight when I sat for too long and hurt after walking too much... Then for good measure I got kicked right on my bruise during swim lessons that day, and Steve kept accidentally bumping into it.

All this less than a week after smashing my finger at work and having some beautiful discoloration. I am definitely Jan's Granddaughter...

The 4th of July

Is there a greater holiday than the 4th of July? The entire holiday revolves around two things:

roasting meat

and gunpowder

The 4th of July is officially Christmas for grownups. So Steve has been enjoying telling everyone about how we were going to Tensed for the 4th of July to Nicolle's Uncle's place there to set off "illegals". However, Tensed is on an Indian Reservation; on a Rez you can set off stuff that North Korea can't set off without incurring further U.N. sanctions. I just want to assure you all that Brian promised us that all except a very few mortars were perfectly legal - on a reservation. Now that you've all been reassured. A few (we took many) pictures from the festivities.

First, just a few pictures of the family.

Next, pictures of the fireworks!
This is my sad pagoda... We didn't have a flat surface for it and this was the end result.

Before:After: (some of it)
Anyone want to try and calculate the carbon footprint of our show? I'm sure the picture above would be enough to make Al Gore experience shortness of breath......hmmmmm.

Thanks to Dad and Brian who were responsible for putting on the show!We had a great time!

Looks can be deceiving...

These are the very sad, pitiful plants now outside our apartment door... Unfortunately our tomato plant grew too bi for its own stem to hold up, even being fastened to a support, and the stem broke...

Like I said, so sad....

Unless you look closer... We have peppers!

And they're getting big!

So our tomato plant still thought growing was more important, but we now have 2 tomatoes! And a few more blooms coming...

So looks can sure be deceiving!
